Dearly Beloved in Christ,
On February 23rd, we commenced with the season of Great Lent. This is a spiritual observance, where we take time to reflect on our spiritual life, through prayer, meditation, confession of sins, tithing, and self-denial. The Syriac word used to describe this is pethrutha, which means “to stop, to bid farewell, and to return.” We live busy lives, but feasts and fasts challenge us to hold on, and bid farewell to the things that bring us away from our
relationship with God, and to return to the saving experience of Jesus Christ.
