Week#21 –Let the parent discipline their children and the children accept corrections

  • Ephesians 6:4 Fathers do not exasperate your children, instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
  • Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
  • Proverbs 29:17, 15 Discipline your son and he will give you peace, he will bring delight to your soul. The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.
  • Proverbs 23:13,14 Do not withhold discipline from a child; punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.
  • Proverbs 13:24 He who spares the rod hates his son But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
  • Proverbs 22:15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.
  • Proverbs 13:18 He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored.
  • Proverbs 19:20 Listen to advice and accept instructions and in the end you will be wise
  • Proverbs 15:31-32 He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise. He who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever heeds correction gains understanding.

Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you for the children that you have entrusted with us.  You give us the strength to bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord without exasperating them.  We know that if we train them in the way they should go, even when they are old they will not turn from it. Help us to discipline them firmly because we love them and help us to save their soul from death. Give them the humbleness to receive the corrections because whoever heeds the correction gains understanding and will live among the wise. Whoever ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored. Help them know only fools despise corrections. We pray that You give us the grace to nurture them in the way they should go. All glory and honor to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray Amen.

Week#22 - Let the children not take lightly the discipline of the Lord

  • Hebrews 12:5 Do not make light of the Lord’s discipline and do not lose heart when He rebukes you because the Lord disciplines those he loves. Endure hardships as discipline; God is treating you as sons.
  • Hebrews 12:11 God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in His holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
  • John 15:2 Every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful
  • Amos 4:9 Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, I struck them with blight and mildew. Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you have not returned to me.
  • Proverbs 1:25 “Since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh at your disaster. They will call to Me but I will not answer, they will eat the fruit of their ways.”

Dear Heavenly Father, We pray that our children do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord and do not lose heart when You rebuke them. Help them endure hardships as a discipline. Let them know that You discipline them for their good so that they may share in Your holiness even though it doesn’t seem pleasant at the time of discipline. The Lord disciplines us to bear more fruits so that by the fruit that we bear others will get to know You through us. Help us to bring more people into Your Kingdom and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ name, we pray Amen.

Week#23 - Let the children be content in all situations and store up treasures in heaven

  • 1 Timothy 6:6-9 Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into harmful desires that ruin them.
  • Luke 12:14 Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist of his possessions.
  • Matthew 6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth but store up treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not steal.
  • 1 Timothy 6:17-18 Command those who are rich not to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way, they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age.
  • 1 Peter 1:4 For the believers, through faith in Jesus Christ we have an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade kept in heaven for us until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the coming age.
  • Proverbs 30:8-9 Give me neither poverty nor riches but give me only my bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say “who is the Lord?” Or I may become poor and steal, and dishonor the name of my God.
  • Hebrews 13:5 Be content with what you have because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
  • Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be satisfied.
  • 2 Corinthians 12:9 Jesus said to Paul when he asked to take away the thorn in his flesh, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”
  • Philippians 4:11 Paul has learned to be content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

 

Dear Heavenly Father, We live in a world where people think the cure for discontentment is to have more.  But the scripture says to be on our guard against all kinds of greed. For we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it.  So help us to be content in our life if we have food to eat, clothes to wear, and a roof over our heads. Help them to store treasures for themselves in heaven by doing good deeds, sharing the resources with the needy, and being generous. Help them to know the greatest treasure that they have is salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and those who believe have an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade is kept in heaven. Let them know contentment is to have an intimate relationship with the Creator and in His promise that He will be with them always and will never forsake them. Help them to do everything that is right with you, so they will be satisfied. We pray that the children understand God’s grace is sufficient for them in every situation.   Help them understand that if they only focus on earthly possessions they will fall into harmful desires that ruin them. Like Paul help them be content always in their life because you are with them. We ask all these in your precious name. Amen

Week #24 Let the children rejoice in the Lord

  • Luke 10:20 Rejoice that your names are written in heaven.
  • Psalm 119:14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoice in great riches.
  • Psalm 13:5 I trust in your unfailing love, my heart rejoices in your salvation.
  • Isaiah 61:10 I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
  • Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always.
  • Psalm 5:11. Let all those who take refuge in Him be glad, let them ever sing for joy.  Those who love your name may rejoice in you.
  • Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
  • Psalm 4:7.  You have filled my heart with greater joy, than when their grain and new wine abound.
  • Habakkuk 3:17 Though the fig tree doesn’t bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord
  • Psalms 16:11 You have shown me the path of life. You will fill me with joy in your presence. With eternal pleasures at your right hand.
  • Ecclesiastes 3:12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.

Dear Heavenly Father,  Let the children rejoice that their names are written in heaven and in following your statutes and in Your salvation. Let them be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. O Lord, fill their heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. Even amid suffering and loss, Habakkuk has learned that he can trust God, and with that trust comes great joy, not in circumstances but in God himself. Like Habakkuk, let the children trust in God in every circumstance and rejoice in the Lord because He cares for them more than anyone else in the world. Even in prison, Paul could say rejoice in the Lord always.  We pray that the children will be able to rejoice always in the Lord in all the circumstances they go through because God is with them as ‘Emmanuel’.  Help them understand there is nothing better for them than to be happy and do good while they live. Help them experience the joy in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
